Motherless Day

The Pity Party You Actually Want To Go To.

By the time May rolls around, Mother’s Day is everywhere: commercials, brunch specials, heartfelt tributes. But for those of us who have lost our mums, this Hallmark holiday can feel more like a reminder of what’s missing than a reason to celebrate.

That’s why we created Motherless Day in 2024—an event that fosters connection, community, and a chance to celebrate and commemorate the moms we miss.

We gather to laugh, cry, eat, and take part in meaningful activities that honour those we've lost, surrounded by people who get it. Each year, the event also raises funds in support of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, sparking more conversations around mental health and grief.

“I looked forward to Mother’s Day for the first time in a long time.”

—Katrina

“I'll just say that since my mom passed Feb 7th, this was the most healing day I've experienced since. I can't pick one thing, but I think it was the connection. ”

— Julia
